ACADEMY PHILOSOPHY and ORGANIZATION
The off-season is the growth season for all
basketball players. That is, it is the time that players use to improve
their individual skills. It is our desire to help young players
grow in all phases of their game. We provide these players with the
necessary direction for the individual practice programs. Positive
attitude, correct skill development, and sound game knowledge will
provide the young player with a strong foundation upon which to build
her basketball success.
We strive to give as much individual attention as possible
to each camper throughout the week. We know that in some camp situations the coaches and counselors are not always the best role models for today’s young players, we seek to be special in that way, and want to leave a positive and meaningful impression on each athlete during their week at camp.
Each day will consist of three, 2-3 hour training sessions – Morning, Afternoon, Evening. Each
session will build upon the next as we continually try to challenge the
campers to try to master different fundamentals of the game. Campers will be in teaching stations, skill breakdown drills, skills factory’s, and short sided games. Training sessions will also include fun competitions and the ever popular 5 v 5 league play. We strive to make the camp both challenging and fun for all campers.
The camp is will be divided into 2 or 3 different groups for the week of camp. These groups will be organzed through grade and talent. All
training and competition takes place in these groups to allow for
different levels of experience and skill to be grouped together.
Within each league campers will be assigned to a team and a coach for
the week of camp.

Meals and Food Allergies
The food at Messiah is
incredibly good, and plentiful! We often hear campers rave about the
food! All three meals are served in the award winning Lottie Nelson
Dining Hall and includes access to an all you can eat selection from a
full salad and fruit bar, sandwich station, three main entrée lines,
Falcon Grille that includes hamburgers, Chicken fingers, hotdogs…, a
full service drink bar, and deserts and ice cream. NO CAMPER WILL GO
HUNGRY!
The dining staff at
Messiah are familiar with food allergies and have worked hard to meet
the request of campers in the past. If you wish to speak with someone
about options within the dining hall for campers with specific food
allergies please contact our Executive Chef, Percell Green, at pgreen@messiah.edu . He will be happy to make sure that your child is well taken care of during the week at camp.
