Messiah College Baseball is offering its Fall Prospect Camp on September 22nd. The camp will run from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Our Prospect Camps provides a great opportunity for prospective student-athletes to display their abilities to the Messiah Baseball staff, while continuing to develop and hone their skills.
Objective
The purpose of our camp is to make every individual a better baseball player and assist those players who have interest in attending Messiah College. The camp is designed for High School players who want to be introduced to advanced college instruction and play at the highest level possible. We successfully accomplish this by building on strengths and improving areas of weakness.
Instructor to camper ratio will be no higher than 1:4 to ensure that all campers get ample individualized evaluation/instruction. Both offensive and defensive skill evaluation/instruction will be given.
Campers will be put through a series of stations which will emphasize the mechanics and techniques related to their given position. The Camp will also include drills to help players increase running speed, bat speed and arm strength. High scores in these areas are the things College Coaches are looking for in their recruits/prospects. Improvements in these areas are beneficial in regards to obtaining baseball scholarship offers or guaranteed roster spots. Our current recruits have come from our Prospects Camps.
Overnight
Campers are given the option to spend one night (Friday or Saturday) in residence with current Messiah Falcon Baseball players to further experience being a collegiate student athlete at Messiah College.
Cost
$100.00 per player not staying overnight.
$125.00 includes overnight stay. (includes two additional meals)
Time
10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Format
The first part of the camp is set up in a pro style tryout format. Players will be put through a series of Metric testing to assess their running speed, bat speed and arm strength. Then, they will be put through a modified intra-squad to help analyze their skill sets under game conditions.
During the late afternoon part, players will be given instruction based off of what their individual strengths and weaknesses are, as shown during the earlier session. There will also be a game at the end of the day to hopefully incorporate new skills learned during instruction time.
We feel this format is extremely valuable to player development, as each player will be analyzed and given drills and techniques to improve in designated areas. We also like to see how campers incorporate what they have learned. Our camp is more than pay your money, tryout and leave. We care about our campers and their opportunity to receive and practice college-level instruction.
Location
The camp will be held at the Starry Athletic Field Baseball Complex located at the rear of the Messiah College campus.
Equipment
Please dress in normal outdoor practice attire, appropriate cleats/shoes and bring glove and bat. Catchers please bring catchers gear. We suggest baseball pants for the games.
